Far Off Places - A cave, and Finding the fish

 Hello!

You may remember that I had a translation published in Far Off Places in 2016. It is a gorgeous journal, available in print and digital formats.

I was recently happy to discover that I would again be part of it, with my poems, "A cave" and "Finding the fish" published in the upcoming issue.

There is also a bittersweet feeling, as this will be the final issue of Far Off Places. I am proud and moved to be part of it. You can purchase the digital edition of Volume V, Issue II online.

I hope you enjoy my poetry.

Stirred - Pirates and Adventurers

 Hello!

I had a great first visit to the Mancunian feminist spoken word night Stirred, which this month had the theme of Pirates and Adventurers.

I read some of my poems - about women and about the sea - and enjoyed hearing the amazing work of the other performers. I met Kate Garrett and Amy Kinsman - writers I knew online through the journals we edit (Foxglove, Picaroon, Riggwelter) - in person, and they were lovely.

I also met some new people, and the event had a cosy and welcoming vibe. I am very glad I made the journey - one complicated by train issues and weather - to the Three Minute Theatre.

I look forward to attending, and reading at, more spoken word events, in Manchester and beyond.

Cake Magazine - Perpignan sestina

 Hello!

When I started sending my writing out to journals, I stumbled upon one in particular that I loved. Cake Magazine was beautifully designed and featured great writers. Every issue was named after a type of cake: Battenberg, Key Lime, Cherry Bakewell. I dreamt of seeing my own work there.

Now my poem "Perpignan sestina" has been published in Issue 9, Pineapple Upside-Down Cake. It is an amazing feeling, and proof to me that dreams really can come true if you work hard. I am very happy, and very grateful to everyone who has encouraged me with my poetry.

I hope you enjoy the issue and my poem. You can learn more about the city of Perpignan on my travel blog.

 Hi!

My final event of this year's Manchester Literature Festival as a Digital Reporter was the wonderful Simon Armitage, introduced by John McAuliffe.

I hope you enjoy my account of the evening, which has been published on the Festival's Chapter and Verse blog.

I've really enjoyed being part of the Festival for the third time. Long may it continue!
