Visual Verse - Ether

 Hello!

A while ago I was asked to write a piece for the wedding of one of Visual Verse's staff members; the above image by Reza Abbasi was provided as inspiration.

I was very happy to take part, and the poem "Ether" was the result. With the blessing of the Visual Verse team, I'd like to share it with you here. You can click on it to make it bigger.

I hope you enjoy it. Have a lovely festive season!

News - November 2016

 Hello!

It is time for my November news update. This was a busy month for me, what with university exams, presentations, coursework and just navigating day-to-day life as a student in France. However, I also celebrated some creative achievements and projects.

Firstly, I had several pieces published: my short story "Fives" in Visual Verse, my poems "Snowlands" and "Last light" in Now Then Manchester, my poem "As the darkness fell" in Amaryllis Poetry and my poem "My hair" in Germ Magazine.

Secondly, I wrote an article for The Mancunion on "How to get published in literary journals". I hope you find it useful!

Thirdly, my travel blog, Neither Here Nor There, is doing really well and is close to reaching 50,000 page views! I'm thankful to everyone who has followed my adventures in France, Spain and beyond. If you're not a regular reader of my blog, do consider paying it a visit to enjoy stories, photos and the occasional video of my time abroad.

Finally, my online literary magazine Foxglove Journal celebrated one month of existence. In that time I've had the pleasure of showcasing some beautiful and powerful pieces of work. If you're a writer, we'd love to hear from you - check out our submission guidelines.

Be sure to give The Writing Squad's latest newsletter a look - I'm in it a few times, along with some great writers and friends.
 Here's to a creative December!

 Thanks for reading,

Just letting you know that for The Mancunion Books Section, I have written a guide to getting your creative writing published!

I hope you find my advice useful. Please consider sending some poetry or fiction to my own new magazine, Foxglove Journal!

News - October 2016

 Hello!

I'm trying out something new today, which is to give a summary of my writing news from the last month. So, here we go for October.

Firstly, I won Second Prize in the Poetry Society's Timothy Corsellis Prize with my poem "Barthelasse". I was so happy when I heard I had been chosen - this poem means a lot to me and writing it was a powerful, emotional experience. You can read it here; it's on the right after the link.

Secondly, my work has appeared in several magazines. Four of my travel-themed poems featured in Issue 20 of Alliterati Magazine, as did my poem "Child Eight" in Germ Magazine, my flash piece "Sandstorm" in Visual Verse and my short story "Places where I go to hide" in Fictive Dream.

Thirdly, I wrote two informative pieces: one on books about new beginnings for The Mancunion, and one on languages and travel for author Cathy Cassidy's Dreamcatcher blog.

Finally, and most excitingly: I have started my own literary magazine! Foxglove Journal is open for submissions of poetry and short fiction. I would love to see your work, so please consider sending some in!

October has been a fruitful month for my writing. Hopefully November will be equally creative.

Remember to keep an eye on my travel blog to hear about my adventures here in France!

 Thanks for reading.
